Tout Wars Mixed Draft 2015 Draft Order is Announced

Tout Wars mandates that each year’s draft order is determined by last year’s finish. Since draft picks are not necessarily valued in the order they come, owners are polled for their preferences of pick. The following is draft order they’ve selected:

Tim McLeod (100) 2014 Champion
Brent Hershey (100)
Perry Van Hook (100) Explains why he moved down one spot.
Adam Ronis (100)
Tom Kessenich (100)
Rick Wilton (100) Returning. Last result was ninth place finish in Tout AL in 2010.
Grey Albright (89)
Ray Murphy (100)
Eno Sarris (85)
Greg Ambrosius (83)
Paul Sporer (93)
Rudy Gamble (100) New to Tout Wars.
Paul Greco (99)
Charlie Wiegert (95)
Anthony Perri (100)

The number in parentheses is the amount of FAAB each team has to start the season. Tout Mixed teams are penalized $1 FAAB for each point they fall below 75 points.

Tout Wars Mixed Draft Update!

Rudy Gamble joins the Tout Wars Mixed Draft League. See the complete roster here.

Mixed Draft owners are currently selecting their draft position for the March 10 draft, which will begin at 8pm ET, and be carried by SiriusXM. The list will be reordered once their selections are finished.

Tout Wars 2015: This Year’s Mixed Draft Lineup

toutwarslogo-newsmallThe 2015 Mixed Draft will take place in early March, date and time to be announced soon. We’re working to coordinate SiriusXM coverage of the draft, if possible.

There is one new rule for the Tout Wars Mixed Leagues. The reserve list will expand from four to six players this year.

This year’s owners, in order of last year’s finish, adjusted for new members Wilton and Gamble. The number in parenthesis is the amount of FAAB each team starts with. Draft order and FAAB budget are based on Tout Wars rules. Draft order will be announced later.

Tout Wars Mixed Draft Final: Tim McLeod the Winner!

The official results are not official until the official stats update tomorrow morning, but the unofficial results are that Tim McLeod prevailed, moving from a Friday tie to a 111.5 to 109 victory over Perry Van Hook at season’s end.

We’ll have more when the results are official!

Tout Wars Mixed Draft Pennant Update!

Entering Monday’s action, or in other words, after 25 weeks of play, the Tout Wars Mixed Draft League pennant race was deadlocked. Both Perry Van Hook and Tim McLeod had 111 points each.

Since then, Perry has added a point, breaking out of a three way tie in Saves, and stands today at 112.

Tim McLeod, on the other hand, has seen his elite 57 point (out of 75) pitching staff take a beating. Felix Hernandez and James Paxton were creamed this week, while Madison Bumgarner was simply ineffectual. The bad performances were damaging psychically, but McLeod’s categorical leads were big enough to absorb the flood of earned runs and baserunners.

Going into Wednesday’s games he stands at 110.5, having gained half a point in wins (thank you Derek Holland) and lost a point in homers.

These two should be battling all week.

Final Mastersball.com SWAT report: September 22, 2014

The last Bidmeister run came at midnight last night, and players were bought with whatever FAAB remained. As it does each week, mastersball.com has compiled the bids and the results, with commentary about the action. You can read it here.

This week they’ve combined the Tout Wars and LABR reports. Even if you don’t care much about LABR, it’s worth getting past the LABR portion for Todd Zola’s take on FAAB rules and procedures.

We’ll be talking about some of these this winter at Tout Wars Headquarters. I’ve never played with a 1000 unit budget, but look forward to hearing people’s experiences dealing with it.

The Tout Wars Mixed Draft Horse Race!

Screenshot 2014-09-20 12.16.11It’s a match race. And it couldn’t be closer.

Tim McLeod has been the best Tout Mixed Draft team in September, while Perry Van Hook has been fifth best. Curiously, on September 1 Tim was in first place with 107 points, while Perry was in second with 105. Brent Hershey had a puncher’s chance back the, with 102.5 points.

Here’s what you need to know as we approach the last week (Likely possible gain/Likely possible loss):

RUNS:
Van Hook (+1/0)
McLeod (0/0) Tim is only nine runs ahead of Kessenich, but both have been equally productive this month.

HOME RUNS:
Van Hook (0/0)
McLeod (+2/-1)

RBI:
Van Hook (0/0)
McLeod (+1/0)

STOLEN BASES:
Van Hook (0/0)
McLeod (+1/0)

OBP:
Van Hook (0/0)
McLeod (0/0)

HITTING OVERALL
Van Hook (+1/0)
McLeod (+5/-1)

WINS
Van Hook (+.5/-.5)
McLeod (+2/-1.5)

SAVES
Van Hook (+2/-1)
McLeod (+.5/0)

ERA
Van Hook (0/-1)
McLeod (0/0)

WHIP
Van Hook (+1/-2)
McLeod (0/-1)

PITCHING OVERALL
Van Hook (+3.5/-4.5)
McLeod (+3.5/-2.5)

OVERALL OVERALL

McLeod (+8.5/-3.5)

In no category are the two leaders competing against each other. Based on his current lead and his larger potential upside, McLeod has a slim edge, but this promises to be a nailbiter.

Mastersball.com FAAB Report, Sept. 15, 2014: Don’t Ignore the Ratios

Mastersball tracks all the week’s FAAB in the four Tout Wars leagues, and then Lord Zola goes the extra mile, demonstrating that even in the season’s final weeks there is movement (or potential for movement) in all the categories.

There is.
