Doubt Wars Weekend! Play Against the Pros!

doubtwarslogoLast weekend, 39 fantasy baseball teams vied for three Tout Wars titles in three epic auctions held at Sirius XM headquarters in New York City.

This weekend, you get to pit your fantasy baseball knowledge against those Tout Warriors, in a game we call Doubt Wars.

Here’s how to play (CONTEST CLOSED FOR THIS YEAR):

Pick a league, either AL, NL or Mixed. Spreadsheet is here.

Fill out a complete roster of players, based on their Tout Wars prices—plus $1 per player. Roster configurations in the AL/NL league and the Mixed league are different (no swingman in the mixed league). Make sure your roster conforms to the league rules. Total budget is $260.

Players taken on reserve or not taken at all can be selected for your Doubt Wars squad, at a price of $1.

Send the roster via email to webmaster (at) toutwars.com. Include the words Doubt Wars Entry in the subject line.

As an example, here’s what a few lines of an entry might look like:

C Johnny Bench $33 (that would be $1 more than the $32 bid that claimed Bench for Derek Carty in Tout Wars back in the 70s)
C Yogi Berra $23

1B Moose Skowron $11
3B Graig Nettles $8

All legal entries in each league will be ranked against all other entries in each of the 10 Tout Wars categories. The team with the best composite rankings will be the Doubt Wars winner in that league. Your entry will compete against the actual Tout Wars teams as drafted March 23rd or 24th.

No transactions will take place during the season. This is a draft and hold league. All entries must be submitted by 6pm Eastern Time on March 31.

There will be a prize for each league’s winner, a package of Ron Shandler’s 2014 Baseball Forecaster, the 2014 Mastersball Platinum Package , Rotoman’s 2014 Fantasy Baseball Guide, the 2014 Rotowire Baseball Guide and the 2014 Patton $ Software and Data.

Thanks for participating! Let us know if you have any questions in the comments and we’ll answer them here.

  1. Just wondering if this is actually happening or not? I sent in a roster but don’t see anything else happening. Thanks

  2. Sorry, didn’t see this until just now. Yes. Entries for each of the three leagues were allowed. I didn’t prohibit multiple entries in one league, but it isn’t in the spirit of the contest. I’ll publish results as soon as I have them compiled. It’s a rather big job!

  4. Yes. I’ll set up an autorespond on the word Doubt, and manually respond to today’s entries. Good idea, thanks!

  5. There will be updated standings from time to time posted here at toutwars.com. More details to come. I’m looking for a way to automate the process.

  6. Thanks. You’re right about the spelling, wrong about the Yankees then, but you may be right about the Yankees now.

  7. You’re just taking the Top 23 players. No reserves. If you draft players taken in the Tout reserve rounds, or not taken at all, the price is $1.
