Derek Carty, 22, is the youngest person to ever participate in Tout Wars and will be entering his rookie year in 2010. He began writing about fantasy baseball in 2007 at a small, independent blog and was asked to start a fantasy section for The Hardball Times less than two months later. Since then, he’s contributed to Rotoworld, FOX Sports, and Sports Illustrated, among several other websites and publications. In his two years competing in expert leagues, he has won 2 titles with 4 top-three finishes. In 2009, he became the youngest LABR champion in history, taking home his first title as a rookie. Derek is a proud graduate of the MLB Scouting Bureau’s Scout Development Program and is a firm believer in the importance of combining stats and scouting. His work can still be found at The Hardball Times Fantasy.
